The Kid Safe Chemicals Act

From Environmental Working Group:

"The human race is now polluted with hundreds of industrial chemicals with little or no understanding of the consequences. Babies are born pre-polluted with as many as 300 industrial chemicals in their bodies when they enter the world. Testing by Environmental Working Group has identified 455 chemicals in people, and again, no one has any idea if these exposures are safe."

Do you get it? It seems to me that global warming isn't going to matter -- our species won't be able to reproduce in a few generations. Visit EWG and see what you think.

Now hang on a sec. Toxics ARE dangerous, in known and unknown ways, but that doesn’t mean that we should stop being concerned about global warming or other serious threats. The fact is that if we do not act now, climate change will cause massive increases in human illness and death around the world, from droughts, floods, increases in disease-causing insect populations, more frequent and severe storms, rising sea levels that will swamp entire, low-lying islands, etc. These effects are already occurring and will wreak particular havoc in the poorest parts of the world. I agree that we should do more to research the effects of toxics, and should act now to limit our exposure. However, we should not ignore global warming in the process. Besides, it doesn't have to be one or the other, does it?

uncle, lol

slayde, of course you're right. I was exaggerating slightly. I sometimes feel the need to scare the shit of someone in the hopes of waking them up. Usually results in the already awake ones calling me on it.

Wow, I really LOVE Slayde. never met her, but just love her thoughts. I agree, of course. Climate change can be slowed if we " all " wake up and change our ways.
Still, EWG is one of a handful of sites that I like getting email updates from and I read and send them on to others too. the profusion of toxins around and in us our homes is astounding, but we can eliminate many, many..... Choose what you buy and what you use carefully.

AND call your friends on stuff that is nasty and harmful, even if they keep looking at you weirdly.

Thanks Lauri, yes, I try to say things as nicely as I can, but, you know? people want to do what they want to do. You'd make a million bucks if you could figure out how to get them to change their minds. I know, I know, advertising/public service announcement/marketing, blah blah blah.
